The NYC and Westchester Basket Brigades have been feeding families in need in the NYC tri-state area since 1996. We have been incorporated at a NY State not-for-profit corporation since 2012. We are an IRS registered 501(c)3 organization, so your donations are 100% tax deductible from your federal income tax returns.
We are an ALL volunteer run organization, and our administrative expense is at almost 0%, with minor expenses for running the website, NY State filing fees, and a few minor incidentals so that we can feed more families in need. We have collectively fed more than 1.5 Million New Yorkers in need since inception!

The Power of One: From Thanksgiving to New Year’s

What if one simple act could change a life? At the New York Basket Brigade, we’ve seen it happen thousands of times. While our main Thanksgiving events have brought joy to families across NYC, the season of giving isn’t over – and neither is our mission!

Right now, your generosity can create ripples of hope that extend far beyond a single meal. We’re powering critical support systems across NYC through December 31st, working alongside heroes like PATHHSEO’s food pantry in the South Bronx, Nazareth Housing’s emergency shelters, and the life-changing work at Park Ave Thorpe and Thorpe Family Residence. These partners transform lives daily, providing not just meals but pathways to stability for families facing their toughest moments.

As part of the International Basket Brigade movement, we’ve joined millions worldwide in proving that one light truly can dispel the darkness. This holiday season, be that light. GiveLively is a Forever Free not-for-profit platform funded by the Soros Foundation so that charities can reduce administration costs, minimize transaction fees, develop more effective fund raising campaigns, and ensure that a higher percentage of donations go directly to benefit the ultimate beneficiaries, in our case, feeding more families in need. Because we are 100% volunteer run, our administrative expenses are already minimal. This helps us stretch donations even further.

  • $1100 will feed 20 families. Each basket provides a complete holiday dinner with all the trimmings for a family of 4.
