The Story of Sandra Reyes and PATHHSEO

New York Basket Brigade PATHHSEO

In the heart of the South Bronx, the Morrisania section stands as one of New York City’s most underserved areas. Back in 2011, as our newly-formed leadership team scrambled to get the Basket Brigade off the ground, Sandra Reyes and her agency, PATHHSEO, emerged as crucial allies.

Starting with just 12 baskets, our collective efforts have now burgeoned to several hundred annually. It’s not just about the numbers; it’s about the stories, the heart, and the unwavering dedication that leaders like Sandra bring.

When Hurricane Sandy wreaked havoc in 2012, Sandra, despite being gravely ill in ICU, prioritized her community. With Luis DeJesus, a board member, they facilitated a truck for our deliveries. Their devotion to community welfare stands as a testament to the power of human spirit.

Since 2019, this dynamic duo has been instrumental in forging a food recovery partnership. This initiative, before losing its funding earlier this year, secured over a million meals for the South Bronx. It’s relationships like these that amplify our impact, helping us stretch every dollar, every donation, and every ounce of effort to feed as many as we can.

How You Can Be Part of Our Story

We’re on a mission. And that mission is to feed up to 3,500 souls this Thanksgiving season. With partners like PATHHSEO, and with the support of our ever-growing community, we believe it’s possible.

If you’re in the food industry or know someone who is, consider donating bulk food items. Every can of cranberry sauce, every bag of beans brings us closer to our goal.
