This Saturday marks a milestone for us: 10 years of the NYC Basket Brigade in Brownsville!
Since we began there in 2015, we’ve witnessed an incredible transformation in this community, thanks in large part to the dedication of the Brownsville Partnership.

We’re proud to have played a small role in the progress here, alongside remarkable leaders like Donna Smith, who has been a steadfast force behind our efforts.
Donna, the Operations Manager at the Brownsville Partnership, has been essential to making each Basket Brigade a success. With over a decade of experience and a heart for community, Donna embodies the resilience and compassion that drives change.
Reflecting on her journey, Donna says, “Every step we take, we’re moving the needle, trying our best to make a difference.” Her optimism is contagious, and each year she turns the worry of having “enough” into a beautiful abundance—of food, volunteers, and community spirit.
