WHAT'S IN A BASKET?
- Each basket costs about $55 and feeds a family of four for Thanksgiving.
- Typical contents include the following:
- Turkey, Potatoes, Yams, Stuffing, Green Beans, Peas, Corn, Cranberry Sauce, Gravy, Corn Bread Mix, Rice and Black Beans
- We will purchase the groceries and have them delivered to the locations in Westchester and Brooklyn to be assembled by seasoned volunteers.
- Families are identified by our not-for-profit partners.
New York Basket Brigade have been feeding families in need in the NYC tri-state area since 1996. We have been incorporated at a NY State not-for-profit corporation since 2012. We are an IRS registered 501(c)3 organization, so your donations are 100% tax deductible from your federal income tax returns. We are an all volunteer run organization, so our administrative expense is minimal, mostly for running the website, NY State filing fees, and a few minor incidental so that we can feed more families in need. We have collectively fed more than 50,000 people since inception!
The New York Basket Brigade is built on a simple notion: one small act of generosity on the part of one caring person can transform the lives of hundreds. It takes only one light to dispel the darkness, and even just one basket or a few, to bring hope! A Basket Brigade takes place when one individual prepares one basket to personally deliver to a needy family or individual.
The New York Basket Brigade is associated with the International Basket Brigade, providing baskets of food and household items for an estimated 2 million people annually in countries all over the world through local grass roots efforts. Throughout the years International Basket Brigade volunteers deliver food, clothing, and hope to those who need it most. We would be honored to have you become a part of this truly wonderful event in your local community.
In 2022, The Basket Brigades will be taking place Monday, November 14 through Friday, November 18 in Hartsdale, NY.
On Saturday, November 5th, 2022, Volunteers are only needed for packing. The staff at the Brownsville Partnership will be distributing to the community.
